What I'm Quitting in 2025

Happy New Year! Of course, New Years resolutions are the norm for the day or the week, but I want to take a different spin on this. I guess, technically these are still new year's resolutions, but in reverse. Maybe. Anyway, here is the list of what I want to quit this year.

  • Violating my own boundaries to appease others/ people pleasing.

  • Trying to fix it all for everyone. It isn't possible, so knock it off. I'm not Wonder Woman.

  • Ignoring my health and my needs for the sake of being the martyr. My health is as important as everyone else's.

  • Putting all of my dreams on the back burner. I'm a wife and a mom and that matters to me a huge amount, but their dreams aren't more important than mine. If we work together, our dreams and goals can flow, and we can all reach what we're aiming for.

  • Skipping my prayer time and Bible time. This needs to be higher on my list, but I'm just getting warmed up and my brain is slow to wake up this morning.

  • Not maintaining friendships. I'm very picky about who I consider to be a friend, but I can also be careless with my friendships because I get tired, and I don't feel that I have the energy or the emotional bandwidth to keep up with everything for everyone.

  • Comparing myself to others. I actually received a text from someone I work with thanking me for being myself. It was unexpected but appreciated. It made me realize that I have a lot to offer, and I shouldn't minimize myself to make others feel comfortable.

  • Ignoring my emotions. Grieve what needs grieved, celebrate what needs celebrated, love to the fullest.

Happiest of New Years to us all! May we recognize and celebrate the victories of the past year and the coming year, and grieve and learn from the past year, taking those lessons with us this year.
