What Did I Miss?

I only slept for about an hour last night.

I tossed and turned, trying to find a comfortable position, got up and wrote for a little bit. I sat out on my front porch and listened to the silence, which was incredibly quiet, got cold and went back inside to sit on the couch and write for a while longer. This went on all night.

I've heard it said many times that if you can't sleep at night, God is trying to talk with you. I spent some time in prayer, but when I rolled out of bed this morning, it occurred to me that I may have missed something really important because I chose to watch a movie on Netflix instead. What did I miss? I've been asking really hard questions because there are so many things that I hope to accomplish and I'm hoping that I'm going the right way, but did I miss answers to those questions?

What do we miss when we are sleeping instead of listening for the voice of God? We miss out on answers, but I think we miss out on the miracles that come in the waiting. I read somewhere that God is a God of suddenly. He isn't on our timeline; He is on His own schedule, and we have to be patient but be ready for the move.

Consider this: Is there an area in your life where you are asleep, and God is trying to wake you up?
